Holding tanks and clean-in-place systems depend on steam or hot water, pumps and valves working in sequence. Faults usually appear as cycles that run long, temperatures that never reach setpoint, or level alarms.
Common problems
CIP cycle not reaching temperature
Compare the supply temperature with the steam or hot-water supply, and check the heat-exchanger approach and control-valve travel.
Level and transfer alarms
Check level-transmitter readings against the sight glass, and review pump run signals during the transfer.
Cycles running longer than normal
Trend the step durations over weeks to see which step has grown, then look at flow, conductivity and temperature in that step.
Evidence that helps
- CIP step log or batch report export
- Supply/return temperature and flow trends
- Valve and pump states
Work on burners, fuel trains, pressure vessels and electrical equipment must be carried out by qualified personnel following the manufacturer's instructions and local codes. Never bypass a flame safeguard, limit or interlock.
