Most of the time spent on a breakdown is not the repair. It is working out what happened. The first person at the machine can save hours by capturing a few things before the alarm is reset and the evidence disappears.
Photos
- The alarm or fault screen, before reset, with any history page it offers.
- The nameplate of the machine and of the controller or drive that raised the alarm.
- Anything that looks wrong: leaks, burnt connectors, tripped breakers, indicator lights.
Data
- Trends for the hour before the event: pressures, temperatures, currents, speeds.
- Exports from the controller or HMI if it keeps an event log.
- Production context: what product, shift and load the machine was running.
Notes
- When it happened and what the machine was doing.
- Whether it has happened before, and what was done last time.
- Any recent maintenance, adjustments or parts changed.
With these in hand, a diagnosis can start from evidence rather than from guesses, whether it is done by your own team, the equipment supplier or InduQT’s free tools.
