Haas Automation Next Generation Control (NGC) troubleshooting
The Haas Next Generation Control (NGC) is the control on Haas mills and lathes built from 2015 onward. Axis alarms on the NGC use one alarm number for every axis, with the axis number in front of a period: 1.108 is an X-axis servo overload, 2.108 is Y and 3.108 is Z. Haas publishes a short description for most alarms in its online alarm search.

How it reports faults
- Press ALARMS: ACTIVE ALARM shows the alarms affecting the machine now (PAGE UP/PAGE DOWN for more), ALARM HISTORY lists recent alarms, ALARM VIEWER gives the description of every alarm, and KEY HISTORY shows up to the last 2000 keystrokes.
- In ALARM HISTORY and ALARM VIEWER, type an alarm number or text and press F1 to search.
- Axis designators before the period: 1 = X, 2 = Y, 3 = Z, 5 = A, 6 = B, 7 = C, 4 = main spindle, 9 = tool turret or servo carousel, 11 = servo tool changer arm, 12 = secondary spindle.
- Classic Haas Control (CHC) per-axis alarms are merged on the NGC: CHC 109, 110, 111, 188, 271 and 674 (servo overloads) all appear as group 108 with an axis prefix.
- For persistent alarms, Haas asks for an error report: with the alarm on screen, insert a USB device and press SHIFT + F3, then send the file to the Haas Factory Outlet.

Evidence to collect
- Photo of ACTIVE ALARM including the axis prefix (e.g. 3.103)
- ALARM HISTORY page around the event
- Error report (SHIFT + F3) for alarms that persist
- Software version
- What the machine was doing: power-up, zero return, jog, rapid, cutting, tool change
Work on fuel trains, burners, pressure vessels and electrical equipment must be done by qualified personnel following the manufacturer’s documentation and local codes. Never bypass a safety device or interlock.
