ABB ACS580 troubleshooting
The ACS580 is ABB’s general-purpose low-voltage AC drive. Faults are four-digit hexadecimal codes; warnings start with A. The drive keeps a time-stamped event log, so the first step in any diagnosis is to read which fault tripped and what was logged around it.

How it reports faults
- Active faults and the fault and event log are on the panel under Menu > Diagnostics.
- Parameter group 04 Warnings and faults shows the tripping fault (04.01), other active faults (04.02–04.03), the latest stored faults (04.11–04.13) and the latest warning (04.16).
- The event log keeps the last 8 fault recordings and the last 10 warnings or pure events, each time-stamped. A fault reset is logged as event 64FF.
- Auxiliary codes, where a fault has them, are in the event details on the panel and in the event list in Drive composer.
Fault codes
| Code | Name |
|---|---|
| 2310 | Overcurrent |
| 3210 | DC link overvoltage |
| 3220 | DC link undervoltage |

Evidence to collect
- Photo of the panel showing the fault code
- Event log (Menu > Diagnostics) or a Drive composer export
- Drive type code and firmware version
- Motor rating plate and group 99 motor data
- What the machine was doing at the trip
Work on fuel trains, burners, pressure vessels and electrical equipment must be done by qualified personnel following the manufacturer’s documentation and local codes. Never bypass a safety device or interlock.
