MCP for Claude

Connect Claude to InduQT through the MCP server at https://api.induqt.ai/mcp: create sites and machines, query readings, record events and run AI analysis from a conversation.

Server https://api.induqt.ai/mcpTransport Streamable HTTP22 tools

InduQT runs a remote Model Context Protocol server. Add it to Claude and ask about your machines in plain language; Claude calls the same API described in the reference, with the same permissions and the same tenancy.

Before you start

Create an API key in Settings → API keys. For full use give it read, write and ingest; for a read-only assistant, read is enough and write tools answer with a scope error. Limit it to one site if Claude should only see that site. See Authentication.

shell
export INDUQT_API_KEY="iq_live_…"

Claude Code

Add the server once, from any directory:

shell
claude mcp add --transport http induqt https://api.induqt.ai/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer $INDUQT_API_KEY"

Check it is connected with claude mcp list, or /mcp inside a session. To share the setup with a team, add it to the project's .mcp.json instead; Claude Code expands ${INDUQT_API_KEY} from each person's environment, so the key never lands in the repository:

.mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "induqt": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.induqt.ai/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${INDUQT_API_KEY}"
      }
    }
  }
}

Claude Desktop and claude.ai

  1. Open connectors

    Go to Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.

  2. Add InduQT

    Name it InduQT and set the URL to https://api.induqt.ai/mcp.

  3. Save and connect

    The tools below appear under the connector. Turn on the ones you want Claude to use.

Sign-in for claude.ai connectors is coming

Today the server authenticates with an API key sent as a bearer header. That works in Claude Code and in any MCP client that lets you set request headers. OAuth sign-in, which Claude Desktop and claude.ai custom connectors use, is on the way; until then, use Claude Code or a header-capable client.

Other MCP clients

Any client that speaks Streamable HTTP and can send headers works: point it at https://api.induqt.ai/mcp and send Authorization: Bearer iq_live_… with every request.

Tools

InduQT MCP tools
ToolWhat it does
list_sitesList sites with machine and connector counts.
create_siteCreate a site.
list_machinesList machines, optionally for a site.
create_machineAdd a machine to a site.
get_machineA machine with its signals and latest values.
update_signalName a signal and set its units and normal band.
ingest_readingsWrite readings for one or more machines.
query_dataReadings for a time window, as evenly spaced points.
latest_valuesLatest value of every signal with out-of-band flags.
import_file_urlLoad a CSV/XLSX from a public link into a machine.
create_recordingRecord a past window or start a live recording.
stop_recordingStop a live recording.
list_recordingsList recordings.
get_recordingRecording data, events and insights.
analyze_recordingRun the AI analysis on a recording.
list_connectorsList connectors and their status.
create_connectorConnect an MQTT broker, OPC UA server, Event Hub or CSV URL to a site.
evaluate_machineRun the decision engine on a machine’s recent data.
list_decisionsRecent decisions for a machine or site.
record_outcomeRecord the confirmed root cause for a decision.
decision_criteriaThe engine’s catalogue of questions, causes, checks and policies.
diagnoseDiagnose a symptom or alarm, optionally for a machine.

Tools respect the key's scopes: reading tools need read, ingest_readings needs ingest, and the rest need write. Analysis and diagnosis count against the plan exactly as they do through the API.

Example prompts

Create a site called Pleasanton plant and a boiler B-101
Show me steam pressure for B-101 over the last hour
Record the last two hours on B-101 and tell me what happened

Claude chains the tools itself: the last prompt finds B-101, creates a recording for the past two hours, runs the analysis and summarizes which signal moved first and what to check.

Troubleshooting

  • No tools listed: the header is missing or the key was revoked. Run claude mcp get induqt and check the header, then test the key with curl -H "Authorization: Bearer $INDUQT_API_KEY" https://api.induqt.ai/v1/sites.
  • Empty $INDUQT_API_KEY: the variable was not set in the shell where you ran claude mcp add. Remove the server with claude mcp remove induqt and add it again.
  • A tool answers with a scope or plan error: see Errors and limits.
