Free PLC fault diagnostic

Photograph the controller fault, export the diagnostic buffer or fault log, and say what the machine was doing. InduQT reads the fault against the manufacturer manual and ranks the causes: program, I/O and network, power, or hardware.

What it checks

  • Major and minor faults (Allen-Bradley Logix 5000)
  • Diagnostic buffer events and error OBs (Siemens S7-1500)
  • ADS errors and EtherCAT faults (Beckhoff TwinCAT)
  • Watchdog and cycle-time faults
  • I/O module and network connection faults
  • Program errors: array index, unknown instruction, parameter mismatch

How it works

  1. Identify the machine from the nameplate or a photo of the control.
  2. Read the fault or alarm and look it up in the documentation for that model.
  3. Weigh the evidence you add (trends, logs, history) against each possible cause.
  4. Give you the ranked causes and the next check that separates them, with sources.

Questions

Which controllers does it cover?

Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix, Siemens S7-1500 and Beckhoff TwinCAT with EtherCAT first, with every answer tied to the manufacturer manual. Name the controller and firmware so the right manual is used.

Does it read my PLC program?

Add the fault log or diagnostic buffer and a screenshot of the routine named in the fault. InduQT works from the fault, the manual and what the machine was doing; it does not change your program.

What does it cost?

The diagnostic is free.

InduQT gives guidance, not instructions to operate equipment. Work on fuel, pressure and electrical systems must be done by qualified personnel following the manufacturer's procedures and local codes. Never bypass a safety device or interlock.
