Schneider Electric Altivar Machine ATV320 troubleshooting
The Altivar Machine ATV320 is Schneider Electric’s compact drive for machines, for asynchronous and synchronous motors. Detected errors are shown as short letter codes such as OCF (overcurrent) or OBF (DC bus overvoltage). Each error belongs to a reset class: some clear by themselves when the cause goes away, some can be auto-reset, and some need a power cycle.

How it reports faults
- The active error code is shown on the display; on the graphic display terminal, [Diagnostics] DGT- shows detected errors and their cause in plain text.
- [Error history] PFH- (under MON > DGT) shows the last 8 detected errors, [Last Error 1] DP1 being the most recent. Each record also stores motor current (LCP1), output frequency (RFP1), mains voltage (ULP1), motor thermal state (THP1), run time and command channel.
- PHF, USF and some configuration errors clear as soon as the cause is gone. OBF, OHF, OLF, OSF, CNF and others can be cleared by [Auto Fault Reset] ATR, a power cycle or the [Fault Reset Assign] RSF input once the cause is removed.
- OCF, SCF1 and SCF3 need a power reset unless [Extended Fault Reset] HRFC is set to YES, in which case RSF can clear them.
- Before work on the power section: disconnect and lock out all power, wait 15 minutes and measure the DC bus between PA/+ and PC/- to confirm it is below 42 Vdc. The drive LEDs do not indicate absence of DC bus voltage.

Evidence to collect
- Photo of the display with the error code
- Error history PFH- records (DP1 to DP8) with current, frequency and mains voltage
- Drive reference and firmware
- Motor rating plate and [Motor control] DRC- settings
- What the machine was doing at the trip
Work on fuel trains, burners, pressure vessels and electrical equipment must be done by qualified personnel following the manufacturer’s documentation and local codes. Never bypass a safety device or interlock.
