Siemens SINAMICS G120 warning A07910: Motor overtemperature
Alarm A07910 on a SINAMICS G120 means the measured motor temperature (KTY sensor) or the motor thermal model exceeded the alarm threshold p0604, or a PTC or bimetal contact responded. It is an alarm, not a fault: the drive keeps running, and p0610 decides whether current is reduced and whether fault F07011 follows.

When it happens
- Constant speed under heavy load
- Low-speed running of a self-cooled motor
- High ambient temperature or blocked motor cooling
Likely causes and checks
1Motor overloaded
- Points to it
- Alarm after sustained high current.
- Check
- Check the motor load and current against the rating plate.
2Motor cooling impaired or ambient too hot
- Points to it
- Fan cover blocked or dirty; hot area.
- Check
- Check the motor’s ambient temperature and cooling air path.
3Temperature sensor or wiring problem
- Points to it
- Alarm with a cool motor; A07015 or F07016 sensor messages.
- Check
- Check the KTY84/PTC wiring and the sensor setting p0601.
4Thermal model settings wrong (no sensor)
- Points to it
- Alarm without real heating.
- Check
- Check the thermal model temperatures p0626–p0628 and the motor data.
Telling it apart
- A07910 is the alarm. F07011 is the fault: it trips when the temperature exceeds p0605, or exceeds p0604 with p0610 not equal to 0.
- p0610 = 0: alarm only. p0610 = 1: alarm, current limit reduced and timer started, then F07011. p0610 = 2: alarm and timer, then F07011.
- For PTC or bimetallic sensors the response threshold is 1650 ohms or an opened contact, per the List Manual.
Relevant parameters
| Parameter | Name | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| p0604 | Motor temperature alarm threshold | A07910 above this value. |
| p0605 | Motor temperature fault threshold | F07011 above this value. |
| p0610 | Motor overtemperature response | 0, 1 or 2 as described above. |
Evidence to collect
- Alarm buffer r2122 and the alarm value (11: no current reduction, 12: reduction active)
- p0601, p0604, p0605 and p0610 settings
- Motor current and duty
- Motor surface temperature and cooling condition
Work on fuel trains, burners, pressure vessels and electrical equipment must be done by qualified personnel following the manufacturer’s documentation and local codes. Never bypass a safety device or interlock.
