Fireye NX6300 F14 status 07: combustion air not proven, fan not starting?

Question

My industrial burner with a Fireye NX6300 controller is faulting F14 status 07. The fan doesn't seem to start at all during the purge sequence. What should I check first?

Fault F14 indicates that the main combustion air pressure switch did not detect air pressure when required by the NX6300 controller. Status 07 specifically means air was not proven during the purge sequence, after the air pressure prove time t1. This typically points to an issue with the fan operation itself.

Likely causes and checks

1Fan not running or slow

Points to it
The fan is not starting, an overload trips, or a variable speed drive (VSD) ramps up too slowly, preventing the fan from reaching the necessary purge speed.
Check
Confirm the burner motor output, starter, and any VSD run signal are active. Verify that the fan reaches the required purge speed.

2Air path restricted

Points to it
A restriction in the air intake, a dirty fan wheel, a closed damper, or a flue restriction can prevent sufficient air pressure from being generated.
Check
Inspect the air intake, the fan wheel, the damper's full travel, and the flue for any obstructions.

3Switch setpoint too close to low-fire differential

Points to it
If the air pressure switch setpoint is too close to the differential pressure at low fire, the burner may trip when modulating down or operating at low fire.
Check
Measure the differential pressure at the switch across the entire firing range and compare it against the switch's setpoint.

Next check: First, confirm the burner motor output, starter, and any VSD run signal are active, and check if the fan reaches purge speed.

Work on fuel trains, burners, pressure vessels and electrical equipment must be done by qualified personnel following the manufacturer’s documentation and local codes. Never bypass a safety device or interlock.
